Cumby loses to Detroit

Sept. 14, 2008 - CUMBY — Detroit exploded for 16-first quarter points as they rolled to a 24-6 win over the hometown Trojans Friday in non-district football action.
Michael Morris was a bright spot for Cooper as he scored in the first quarter on a 17-yard run.
Cumby had 202 yards of total offense. Morris had 24 carries for 97 yards. He also completed five of 19 passes for 23 yards with one interception. Rodney Hobbs had four receptions for 18 yards and Donnie Rodriguez caught one pass for 18 yards. Rodney Hobbs had 14 carries for 75 yards; C.J. Ringenberg, ran twice for six yards and Dustin Clem had a one-yard carry.
Detroit had 219 total yards, rushing 39 times for 183 yards and completed four of nine passes for 36 yards.
Cumby, now 0-3, will play at Simms Bowie Sept. 19.
