Cumby Pee Wee has success

Oct. 21, 2008 - CUMBY — The Cumby Trojan JuniorPee Wee (white) football team improved to 4-0 after defeating Cooper 21-6 on Oct. 18.

Sebastian Adams led the team in rushing with 115 yards and a touchdown. Dedric Godbolt added a 30-yard TD run, and Wasey Warren added the other score on a quarterback sneak. Jaxson Reneau added a two-point conversion with a catch from his tight end position. The offense ran for 208 yards behind the offensive line of Austin Allan, Denton Lawson, Aaron McDade, Cy Killem, Dante Hall, Brent Brewer and Reneau. The defense held their scoreless streak in tact allowing no points to be scored. Cooper’s only score came on a 75-yard interception return by Easton Sillman. Warren also recorded three and half sacks. McDade, Killem, Dee Dugan, Jaylen Hawkins, and Braylon Adams each had three tackles. Cornerbacks Noah Balint and Godbolt provided excellent coverage.

�They improved to 5-0 after defeating the Cumby Trojan (grey) team 34-0 on Saturday. Wasey Warren and Simeon Taylor each had two TDs and Sebastian Adams had one TD run. Taylor ran for 81 yards, and Dedric Godbolt added 60. The offensive line of Isaiah Neal, Allan, Lawson, McDade, Killem, Hall, Brewer, and Reneau provided outstanding blocking. Braylon Adams led the defensive charge with five tackles and one sack. Hawkins had four tackles and one interception. Killem added four tackles. Reneau, Godbolt, and Taylor each added three tackles. McDade and Hall each had tackles for losses. The junior team has outscored their opponents 116-12 through five games. The only scores came on a fumble return and interception return as the defense has not given up a single score the entire season. The team is coached by Jerry Warren, Marvin Warren Sr., Marvin Warren Jr., Roderick Godbolt, Brandon Balint, and Damiyon Perry.

�The team improved to 6-0 after pulling out a nail biter against Wolfe City. D�Corian Young sealed the victory on a 25-yard quarterback keeper for a TD. Then, he tossed a two-point conversion to Colby Savage as the Trojans prevailed 8-0. Preston Price led the team with 52. Young rushed for 47 yards, Keiston Willis added 25, and Austin Dodd ran for 15 yards. Savage hauled in three catches for 15 yards, and Dodd had two receptions for six yards. Willis was the leading tackler with four. Shane Gilbert, Price, Dodd had three tackles. Hayden Daniles, Ken Chapin, Will Chapin, Grant Sharp, and Cason Churchman all had two tackles. They previously defeated Wolfe City 21-0 and 8-0, Lone Oak 23-6, Cooper 40-0 and 38-0, and Celeste 41-0 outscoring their opponents an171-6. The team is coached by Cory Young, Russell Hammons, Lonnie Gusters, Chad Nallsand Bobby Kaufert.
