Cross country runners fourth, fifth at Lindale

Oct. 7, 2008 - LINDALE -- The Sulphur Springs cross country team took fourth and fifth place in girls and boys competition held here Friday.
In the varsity boys division - Sulphur Springs got fourth overall. Top runner for the Wildcats was senior Ross Hicks with a time of 17:41, eighth overall. Garrett Gray, also a senior athlete, was 13th, 17:59; junior Preston Weaver, 18th; junior Cody Morehead, 29th, 18:47; senior Chris white, 33rd, 18:53; junior Andrew Wallace, 40th, 19:08 and taking 55th was senior Bailey Booher in a time of 19:48.
The girls took fourth place overall in varsity competition. Sophomore runner Meagan Massey was seventh, 13:31. Others include: freshman Ayana Taylor, eighth, 13:37; junior Kasie Crowson, 47th, 15:05; freshman Chelsea Foster, 48th, 15:06; junior Karlie Junot, 49th, 15:10; sophomore, Samantha Owens, 52nd, 15:19 and freshman Ashley Gregory, 55th with a time of 15:24.
Freshman Micah Hampton had the top time for the junior varsity boys as at 19:06. Others include: sophomore Irvin Anderson, second, 19:16; sophomore Tanner Bolton, sixth, 20:04; sophomore Jarod Morgan, 27th, 21:07; junior Tyler Usher, 25th, 21:01; sophomore Pablo Olquin, 31st, 21:37; freshman Dadrian Smith, 37th, 21:58; freshman Shane Bailey, 39th, 22:14; freshman Garrett Womack, 54th, 23:02; freshman Arron Pierce, 58th, 23:14; senior Brandon Fain, 68th, 23:58; sophomore Arthur Harbin, 80th, 24:58. Also running, but not placing were: freshman Landon Shearer, 25:28; sophomore, Brennan St. Clair, 25:33; freshman Kyler Smith, 27:47; freshman Ryan Henton, 29:54 and sophomore Taylor Ausbrooks, 30:44.
Junior varsity girls results include freshman Grecia Tenornio, 14th, 15:50; sophomore Sabrina Hutchings, 16:11; freshmen runners, Micah Stalcup, 27th, 16:40; Ashleigh Wallace, 35th, 17:03; Daisy Osornio, 50th, 17.53; Janelle VanBenthem, 71st, 19:25 and Michelle Osornio, 21.38.
"We ran well and had some good times," said Sulphur Springs head coach Andy Holt. "We will compete Saturday in Commerce."
