SS baseball, softball scheduled for tomorrow, weather permitting

From Staff Reports

March 31, 2008 - The SSHS baseball and softball teams will try to keep their hot hitting alive on Tuesday when they host district games - weather permitting.

Both Sulphur Springs teams will host their Paris counterparts tomorrow, if heavy rains, that fell over the weekend and are predicted for today and tomorrow, allow it.

The Wildcats, coming off a pair of run-rule victories in their first two District 11-4A games, are scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch at Eagle Stadium. The Wildcats are 2-0 in district, 8-7 overall, while Paris is 0-2 and 8-11.

The freshmen baseball team is scheduled to play at 4 p.m. today in Paris if the field is ready. The junior varsity is scheduled to play at Paris at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

In softball action, the Lady Cats (4-1, 17-7) will host Paris (0-5) in a varsity-only contest at 6 p.m. Sulphur Springs is in second place in the district, one game behind North Lamar.

The JV district tournament was scheduled to have been played on Saturday in Sulphur Springs, but it was washed out. Because of the forecast for more rains, the tournament is in jeopardy of being canceled.
