JV Cats stay unbeaten

March 30, 2008 - The Sulphur Springs Wildcats junior varsity remained undefeated on the season with a 6-1 win over the Lindale Eagles Friday night at Eagle Stadium.
Once again, the SSHS JV squad found themselves in a tight game after four innings. But in the bottom of the fifth, the Wildcats came alive offensively helped in part by defensive miscues and a tiring Lindale pitcher.Designated hitter Jordan Peoples drew a walk to lead off the inning. After a stolen base and a defensive error, Kade Wimberly plated Peoples on a fielder's choice grounder up the middle.
After another defensive misplay, Conner Brackhahn knocked an RBI single to left field. Two batters later, clean-up hitter Colby Suggs smacked an RBI triple to deep right center field. He later scored on a fielder's choice grounder. By the end of the inning, the Wildcats led 6-1.
Suggs pitched a complete game on the mound for SSHS. He struck out 17 Lindale batters and gave up just three hits and two walks on the evening.
With this win, the JV squad improves to 11-0 overall and 2-0 in District 11-4A. Saturday's scheduled game against McKinney North was canceled due to weather. The Wildcats will next see action on Tuesday at they travel to Paris.
