Pitch, Hit and Run competition tomorrow

March 27, 2008 - Boys and girls ages 7 through 14 can participate Friday in the Aquafina MLB Pitch, Hit and Run competition at Buford Park.

The competitions is sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Sulphur Springs and is free of charge. Competitors do not have to be members of the Boys and Girls Club to take part.

Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball.

Participants are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition including team championships at major league ballparks and the National Finals at the 2008 MLB All-Star Game. The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age group at the local competition will advance to the sectional level.

A signed waiver release form must be completed by 7 p.m. today in time for the competition, which is 4-7:30 p.m. at Darlan's Field in Buford Park. A birth certificate is also required.
