Dragons playing for seventh place in NJCAA Tournament

March 24, 2008 - HUTCHINSON, Kan. - After a tough first round of the NJCAA Division I National Basketball Tournament, the Paris Dragons advanced in the consolation round on Friday with a 71-61 win over Walters State Community College at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The Dragons (30-6) were scheduled to play Chipola College of Florida (34-2) in the seventh place game today at noon.

Against Walters State (32-2), Paris' Eric Tramiel led the team in scoring with 18 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and one steal. Teammates Charles Funches and Ronnie Morgan scored 11 points each for the Dragons.

Paris held a 27-25 lead at the half and outscored Walters State 44-36 in the second half of play. The Dragons held their biggest lead of the second half at 54-42.

The Dragons shot 24-of-51 for 47.1 percent, compared to 25-of-53 for 47.2 percent. Walters State scored 17 points off of 18 Paris turnovers, while Paris scored 21 points off of 23 Walters State turnovers.
