PJC men advance in consolation bracket

March 20, 2008 - HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The Paris Junior College Dragons advanced in the consolation bracket of the NJCAA Division I National Basketball Tournament on Wednesday with a 74-67 victory over Vincennes University at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

Both teams were tied 33-33 after the first half as Paris outscored Vincennes 41-34 in the second half.

Courtney Waters led the Dragons in scoring with 17 points, while Eric Tramiel had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds to go along with two assists and one blocked shot. Raymond Sims also scored in double figures with 13 points to go along with five rebounds, seven assists and one steal.

The Dragons (29-6) shot 25-of-49 for 51 percent from the field, compared to 26-of-67 for 38.8 percent for Vincennes. The Trailblazers scored 21 points off of 21 Dragons turnovers, while Paris scored 17 points off of 16 turnovers by Vincennes.

Paris will now play the winner of the Eastern Wyoming-Walters State matchup at 11 a.m. Friday.
