Cumby tracksters bring home medals

March 12, 2008 - WOLFE CITY - Cumby's Brixx Hawthorne, Savanah Neal, Laura Oviedo and Ashley Anderson each won three medals Saturday at the Wolfe City Invitational Track and Field Meet.

The Lady Trojans, who medaled in six events, placed second in the team standings.

Neal, Anderson, Sabryna Irwin and Oviedo brought home first place in the 4x400-meter relay. Anderson, Neal and Oviedo also teamed with Kailee Sartin to win silver in the 4x200 relay.

In individual events, Neal was second in the 100-meter hurdles, Oviedo was second in the 200 and Anderson placed third in the 800. Ariel Parker brought home the Lady Trojans only individual gold, taking first in the 300 hurdles. She also placed fourth in the 1,6000.

For the boys, Hawthorne won individual medals in three events, placing first in the 400-meter dash, second in the 200 and third in the 100.

Alex Reyes placed fifth in both the 800 and 1,600, while Timmy Cook took sixth in the 800. Kobie Hodgdon was sixth in the 300 hurdles and also ran a leg on the sixth-place 4x200 relay along with Rodney Hobbs, Brian Clem and Jake Vann.
