Kendall Wright qualifies for national meet in the long jump

March 5, 2008 - MARYVILLE, Mo. - Kendall Wright, a 2004 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, will be competing in the NCAA Div. II Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend.

Wright, currently a junior at Northwest Missouri State University, qualified for the national championship in the long jump after winning the MIAA Conference with a jump of 23 feet, 8 1/4 inches last weekend. It was the 13th-best jump in the nation this season.

This was the third consecutive year that Wright has been the MIAA champion in the long jump, and the first time he has qualified for the national championships.

The indoor nationals are scheduled for March 14-15 at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn. The top eight finishers in each event are named All-Americans.

Wright has also been a starting wide receiver for the Bearcats' football team, which is a three-time national runner-up.
