SS baseball game canceled

From Staff Reports

March 4, 2008 - The Sulphur Springs Wildcats' game against the Athens Hornets has been canceled for tonight, according to head coach Jerrod Hammack.

Due to both school districts taking the TAKS test this week, Hammack and Athens head coach Tony Sikes decided to cancel the game.

"Their administration will not let them play the game and we were going to move the game to Monday since the TAKS test is on Wednesday, but their administration would not even let them do that," Hammack said. "We will go straight into the tournament this weekend, and we are going to have to get back to work.

"We work hard at practice and we hit plenty in practice, believe it or not. We do a good job of it there, but for some reason we can not bring it to game situations."

The Wildcats (5-3) open their final tournament of the year at 4:45 p.m. Thursday against the Corsicana Tigers in Ennis.
