Two Trojans medal at Pewitt relays

March 3, 2008 - OMAHA - Rodney Hobbs and Brixx Hawthorne each took home gold medals for the Cumby Trojans at the Doug Sibly Brahma Relays, hosted by Paul Pewitt, on Saturday.

Cumby took 11 boys and six girls to the track meet, and five of them medaled.

Hobbs won the shot put with a throw of 35-2, with teammate Brian Clem placing second at 34-3. Hawthorne took first in the discus with an 111-9 toss. Hawthorne was also second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.19 seconds, and fourth in the 100 with a clocking of 12.19.

Alex Reyes won a bronze medal with a time of 2:23.1 in the 800-meter run, and came back to place fifth in the 1,600 in a time of 5:49.5.

Placing fourth for the Trojans were Taylor Gay in the discus (94-7), and Trevor Hunter in the 3,200-meter run (13:58.8). Hobbs was sixth in the triple jump with a 35-0 leap.

For the girls, Ashley Anderson took second in the 800 with a time of 2:44.5.
