June 25, 2008 - The Sulphur Springs varsity seems a shoe-in to win its third straight outright 7-on-7 league title tomorrow afternoon.

The Wildcats can do no worse than tie for the league crown when they take their 6-0 record against Paris at 4 p.m. and Commerce at 6 p.m. A win in either game will give them the title.

Sulphur Springs has a 19-1 record in 7-on-7 games this season, including winning the championship of all three tournaments they participated in. The Wildcats earned a berth in the State 7-on-7 Championship tournament July 11-12 at Texas A&M after winning the Tyler Lee State Qualifying Tournament on Saturday.

A full schedule of league games will be on tap beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday at the James Cameron Memorial Practice Fields at SSHS.

Along with the SSHS varsity, the Sulphur Springs JV will also be in action in the varsity division. The JV Cats are 4-0 and will take on Rains at 5 p.m. and Mount Vernon at 7 p.m.

The SSHS freshmen will have four games as they lead the JV division with a 7-1 record. The Cats will play Rains JV at 4 p.m., Mount Vernon JV at 5 p.m., Como-Pickton JV at 6 p.m. and Rains JV again at 7 p.m.
