Wildcats playing in state qualifier Saturday in Tyler

June 20, 2008 - The Sulphur Springs Wildcats’ 7-on-7 team will play in the Tyler Lee State Qualifying Tournament on Saturday at Lindsey Park in Tyler.
Sulphur Springs will play its pool games at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday, but don’t know yet who they will play because the pools have not been set.
The Wildcats are currently 14-1 this year in 7-on-7 games, having won two previous tournaments, in Gilmer and Royse City, and having gone 6-0 in the league they are hosting on Thursdays. They have won their last 12 consecutive games.
To make it three tournament championships, the Wildcats will have to wade through a stout field in the Tyler SQT. There are 16 teams in the tourney: Sulphur Springs, John Tyler A, John Tyler B, Tyler Lee A, Tyler Lee B, Whitehouse A, Whitehouse B, Lindale, Jacksonville, Pine Tree, Marshall, Forney, Rockwall, Arlington Lamar, New Waverly and Katy Morton Ranch.
The top two teams from the Tyler tournament will qualify for the State Tournament at Texas A&M on July 11-12.
Directions: To get to Lindsey Park in Tyler, take SH 154 to Quitman, then take SH 37/69 into Tyler. When you come to Loop 323, take a right (west) and travel for several miles until you come to Spur 364. Take a right on Spur 364 and it will lead to Lindsey Park. Allow about 90 minutes for travel.
