June 13, 2008 - All three Sulphur Springs 7-on-7 teams remained undefeated in their Thursday afternoon league, though it wasn't without a few close calls.

The SSHS varsity ran its record to 4-0 with a 25-20 victory over Paris that wasn't in the bag until the Wildcats scored a TD on the final play, and a 41-6 beating of Mount Vernon.

The SSHS JV, who moved up to the varsity division when Royse City dropped out of competition after the first week, beat Mineola's varsity 18-7, and then defeated Winnsboro's varsity 25-19 by scoring on the next-to-last play of the game.

The SSHS freshmen, who played four games after the JV moved out of the division, won all four, beating Mount Vernon's JV 32-12, Winnsboro's JV twice by scores of 26-19 and 19-14, and Como-Pickton's JV 32-13.

SSHS wide receiver Jace Jackson caught a 10-yard TD pass on the final play of the game to rally the Wildcats from a 20-19 deficit.

The Wildcats scored on three of their final four possessions after a lackluster first half. Bryant "Day Day" Jackson caught a fade pattern for one TD and Rashad Hall grabbed a 10-yard pass as well. Quarterback Tyrik Rollison threw four touchdown passes, including a 30-yard strike to Garrett Ferguson in the first half.

Defensively, linebacker Tyler Higginbotham and cornerback Darrell Franklin each knocked away third-down passes to end Paris threats.

Jace Jackson was the team's leading receiver with 107 yards on eight catches. After hitting just 5-of-15 passes in the first half, Rollison came back to complete 10-of-17 in the final half.

Rollison completed the first five passes he threw, including three touchdowns, as the Wildcats built a 34-0 halftime lead.

On the first play of the game, Rollison connected with Bryant Jackson on a 45-yard bomb. He also threw TD passes to Jace Jackson (2 yards), Kerry Duffey (45 yards) and Johnny McSheffery (5 yards) in the first half. Rollison switched to receiver in the second half and grabbed a 10-yard TD pass from McSheffery.

Defensively, Franklin had two interceptions while safety Triston Crook and cornerback Keiston Clayton each had one pick. In addition, McSheffery and Crook each broke up a third-down pass to end a Mount Vernon possession.

Jace Jackson again led all receivers with 94 yards and two TDs on eight receptions.

SSHS JV 18, Mineola 7

Sulphur Springs' Kaylon Alexander caught two TD passes and intercepted another pass on defense as the SSHS JV won its varsity debut.

Alexander caught a 30-yard TD pass from Sawyer Sinclair on the Wildcats' opening possession and then grabbed a 5-yard scoring pass in the second half. Sinclair also threw a 20-yard TD to Alvin Frazier to ice the game.

Sharard Timmons also came up with an interception for the Wildcats.

SSHS JV 25, Winnsboro 19

The Wildcats fell behind 12-0 after two possessions, but came back on the strength of a 45-yard scoring connection between Sinclair and Irvin Anderson, and interception returns for touchdowns from Timmons and Clayton. Timmons came away with two interceptions, and Joe Scott added another pick.

The game was tied at 19-19 with less than a minute remaining when Frazier juggled and then caught a 1-yard TD pass from Sinclair on fourth down.
