Tough Loss: Belles and Debs eliminated from state tournaments

July 21, 2008 - Both of the Hopkins County Belles and Debs teams were knocked out of their respective state tournaments over the weekend as the Debs finished as the runner-up to Denison Sunday night at Coleman Park.
Denison defeated Hopkins County 7-3 in the championship game
Meanwhile, the Belles lost to Bonham 4-3 in a loser's bracket game on Sunday. Liberty then defeated Bonham in the championship game.
PONYTAILS
DENISON - The Ponytails group continues play in their state tournament at the Culpepper Softball Complex as they defeated Denison 3-2 in extra innings Sunday night.
Enlin Mantha drove in Kasey Moore with the game-winning RBI for the Ponytails in the game.
The Ponytails team will play for the championship at 6 p.m. tonight for a chance to advance to the World Series on Aug. 2.
Results from the Hopkins County Belles and Debs games will be in Tuesday's edition of the News-Telegram.
