July 20, 2008 - Starting Monday, Aug. 4, Sulphur Springs Wildcat fans can line up to get the best seats in the house.

Season tickets go on sale that day for all the SSHS varsity home football games.

Included in the six-game home package will be a regionally-televised match-up against No. 2-ranked Wichita Falls Rider on Thursday, Sept. 11.

The game, which will be played on Thursday because the UIL does not allow live showing of high school football on Friday nights, will be broadcast by ESPN2. It will feature two of the nation's top quarterbacks in Sulphur Springs senior Tyrik Rollison and Rider senior Shevodrick Beaver, who has committed to play for the University of Michigan. Both quarterbacks are ranked in the top five in the nation by

Sulphur Springs faces a daunting schedule this season, with its 10 opponents averaging 6.4 wins last year. Included in the schedule are six teams that made the playoffs and three (Rider, Whitehouse and Longview) that each won at least 10 games in 2007. The combined record for the 10 Wildcat opponents was 64-42-1 (60.3 percent).

Home games for SSHS include the season opener against Paris on Aug. 29, non-district games against Rider and Mesquite Poteet (homecoming on Sept. 19) and district contests against Longview, Mount Pleasant and Hallsville (Senior Night on Nov. 7).

Season ticket packages this year will be $30 for the six home games. Sales will be conducted in the SSHS Media Center from 8:45 a.m. to noon and from 1-5 p.m. each day. Patrons are asked to use the Connally Street entrance to the school.

The first two days of ticket sales, on Aug. 4 and 5, are open only to 2007 season ticket holders who wish to renew their seats. On Wednesday, Aug. 6, those who have already renewed their tickets may upgrade their seating assignments if available.

All remaining seats will go on sale to the general public on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 7-8.

Tickets buyers unable to pick up their own tickets may designate someone else to pick up the tickets for them, but they must be paid for by check in the ticket buyer's name.
