Hawthorne honored twice by Sports Writers Assoc.

Cumby sophomore is named Third Team punter, Hon. Ment. QB

Jan. 29, 2008 - Cumby sophomore Brixx Hawthorne added some more material to his resume on Monday by receiving two honors on the Texas Sports Writers Association's Class A All-State Football Team.

Hawthorne (5-10, 175) was selected Third Team punter and Honorable Mention quarterback.

As quarterback, Hawthorne threw for 1,650 yards and 19 touchdowns and ran 104 times for 1,024 yards and 19 more TDs. He helped lead the Trojans to their first playoff appearance in 28 years.

As a punter, he had 30 punts for 35.0 average with 10of his kicks being downed inside the 20-yard-line.

Hawthorne was also voted All-State punter by the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors. The TASPE is for regular season only, while the Sports Writers Association takes into account the entire season including playoffs.
