Dunn nominated for national award

From Staff Reports

Jan. 17, 2008 - Sulphur Springs senior Josh Dunn has been nominated as an Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year for his performance on the gridiron and his leadership abilities.

Dunn, a senior linebacker for the Wildcats, is now eligible to be named one of the 50 national Players of the Year as selected by Old Spice, which is sponsoring the award for the seventh consecutive year.

One player from each participating high school team is nominated by his coaches for going "above and beyond the call of duty, particularly in the Red Zone," according to information from Old Spice. "The program honors athletes who are able to elevate their play when the heat is on. These athletes embody leadership, performance and desire, and serve as examples to their teammates on and off the field."

The 50 top players will be announced in February.

Dunn, who led the Wildcats in tackles for two consecutive seasons, was named Honorable Mention All-State by the Associated Press Sports Editors.
