Evans takes third at Frisco meet

From Staff Reports

Feb. 27, 2008 - FRISCO - Sulphur Springs shot putter Rodney Evans, a two-time regional qualifier, brought home the Wildcats' lone medal Saturday in the enormous Frisco Relays.

More than 30 boys and 30 girls teams, most of them Class 5A, participated in the track and field meet. Sulphur Springs had some solid performances, but Evans and jumpers Kaylon Page and Bryant "Day Day" Jackson were the only ones to place.

Evans took third in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 7 inches. Jackson placed fourth in the triple jump with a 41-3 3/4 leap, and Page tied for sixth in the high jump with a 5-10 effort.

The Wildcats and Lady Cats will travel to Liberty-Eylau on Thursday to take part in the Paul Parr Relays, which will begin at 3:15 p.m.
