King finishes fourth in national championship

Feb. 25, 2008 - Sulphur Springs' Kyle King finished fourth Saturday in the 3,000-meter run at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. It was his highest finish in a national championship race.

King, running for ZAP Fitness, finished the race in 8 minutes, 7.11 seconds. Matt Tegenkamp won the event in 8:02.52. The top two finishers qualified for the World Indoor Championships in Spain next month.

Next up for the former Baylor All-American is the USA 8,000-meter championship at Central Park in New York on March 15.

King also has a provisional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters for the U.S. Olympic Trials in June. The top three runners at the trials will qualify for the Bejing Olympics.
