Saltillo clinches district titles

Feb. 4, 2008 - SALTILLO - The No. 1-ranked Saltillo Lady Lions wrapped up the District 22-A title with a double-digit win over the Miller Grove Lady Hornets on Friday.

In boys action, the Lions wrapped up their title with a big win over Miller Grove Friday night.

Girls

Saltillo 53, Miller Grove 22

Satillo's Kimber Thompson scored 12 of her game-high 20 points in the second half, while teammates Stephanie Methe added 12 points and Winter Johnson scored 10 points in the win.

Saltillo held a 15-3 lead after the first quarter, a 31-7 lead at the half and a 45-13 lead after three quarters.

The Lady Lions are now 27-2 overall and 13-0 in District 22-A. The Lady Lions travel to Sulphur Bluff for the regular season finale Tuesday night at 5 p.m.

Miller Grove hosts Savoy tonight in its season finale.

Saltillo remained undefeated in District 22-A at 13-0 behind a game-high 19 points from Jocsan Gamez and 10 points from Kenneth Poor Friday night.

The No. 16-ranked Lions (26-3) held an 18-8 lead after the first quarter, a 37-14 lead at the half and a 42-20 lead after three quarters over the No. 17-ranked Hornets.

Miller Grove was led by Andrew Steele with eight points.
