SSMS football players fitted for equipment next week
From Staff Reports
Aug. 10, 2008 - SS Middle School football players will get fitted for equipment tomorrow and Thursday, and will need to purchase their shorts, T-shirts and cleats before school starts.
Both seventh-graders and eighth-graders are responsible for supplying their own gray T-shirts and royal blue shorts, which SSMS athletic coordinator Lawson Crook said can be purchased at Fieldhouse Sports. Each students should also provide his own cleats and athletic supporters or sliding shorts.
Eighth-graders are scheduled to report to the fieldhouse lockerroom at the track to receive equipment between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday. They will receive their locker assignments and be fitted for helmets and shoulder pads.
Crook said it should take about an hour for each student to receive his equipment.
Students who did not get a physical in seventh-grade or who have been injured since then must also get a current physical exam.
Once school begins, eighth-graders will report for practice every morning by 7:55 a.m. Practice begins at 8:10 sharp and is over at the end of first period. There will also be afternoon practices from 3:45-5:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Seventh-graders need to be fitted for their equipment between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon Thursday in the SSMS main gym. Any student unable to get their equipment and locker at that time, will receive them the first week of school.
Each player must also have a physical examination on file.
Seventh-graders play intramural games on Saturdays and do not practice after school.
