Four Panthers running at area meet

April 11, 2008 - The North Hopkins boys will have four runners competing Monday in the postponed area track and field meet at DeKalb High School.
The meet will be between District 19-A and 20-A with the top four competitors in each event advancing to the Class A, Region III meet April 25-26 at Homer Bryce Stadium on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.
The area meet was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but was delayed because of thunderstorms. It will resume at 10 a.m. Monday with field events. The running of the 3,200 will start at 11:30 a.m., with the remainder of the running events to follow.
Competing for North Hopkins will be distance runner Jose Cadena, a double winner at the District 20-A meet, Eric Perez, who was second behind Cadena in both races, hurdler Roger Sancho and half-miler Dylan Horne.
Cadena won the district's 1,600 in a time of 4 minutes, 58 seconds and the 3,200 in 10:44. Perez was second in both in times of 5:17 and 11:21.
Sancho is advancing in both hurdles events after coming in second in district in the 300 intermediates (41.78 seconds) and third in the 110 highs (16.74). Dylan Horne will be running the 800 after placing third at district in a time of 2:12.
