SSJV stays unbeaten

April 8, 2008 - The SSHS JV baseball team capitalized on timely basehitting in a 14-2 run-rule victory over North Lamar on Monday.

North Lamar pitchers hit four batters and walked five to set the table for the Cats.

Kade Wimberly and Colby Suggs each doubled and recorded two RBI to lead the Wildcats offensively.

Starting pitcher Bryce Jenkins (4-0, 1.03 ERA) battled through 4 1/3 innings and a suspension of play due to maintenance on the lights. He struck out 10 and allowed two earned runs. Reliever Jake Dougan closed out the game with back-to-back strikeouts with the bases loaded.

The JV squad remained undefeated through the first half of the District 11-4A play at 5-0, 14-0 overall. The Wildcats travel to Mount Pleasant on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
