Wilder, Henderson lead Sulphur Bluff area qualifiers
Distance duo combine for three first-place finishes at district

April 3, 2008 - EMORY - Sulphur Bluff distance runner Everett Wilder won two events at the District 19-A track and field meet on Monday, and Trey Henderson finished first and second in two other distance races as they helped the Bears finish second in the team standings.
Wilder and Henderson are two of 11 Sulphur Bluff athletes who qualified to advance to the area meet Wednesday at DeKalb High School. The top four in district advance to area.
Wilder won both the 3,200 meters and 1,600 meters, while Henderson won the 800 and was second in the metric mile behind Wilder. Henderson also ran on the second-place 4x400 relay along with Jacob Stahl, Josh Formoso and Gerardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez will also advance in two other races, the 800 and the 1,600.
The Bears piled up points in the distance races with a 1-2-5 finish in the 3,200 (Travis Allan was fifth), 1-2-3 in the 1,600 (Zach Hope was third) and 1-4 in the 800. They also took first, third and fourth in the pole vault with Dylan Horn, Michael Hale and Ryan Moore.
Jacob Minitz is advancing in both hurdle events after finishing second in the 300 race and third in the 110-meter event.
On the girls side, Summer Stailey finished fourth in the 800 and will advance to area.
