Bears run best times of year

Oct. 2, 2007 - MOUNT PLEASANT - The Sulphur Bluff Bears ran their best times of the year on Saturday, placing fifth overall in the Titus County Fair Cross Country Meet.

Let by Top 10 finishes from Everett Wilder and Trey Henderson, the Bears were the second Class A school in the team standings behind North Hopkins.

Wilder finished fourth overall in the 3.1-mile race with a time of 16 minutes, 38 seconds, while teammate Trey Henderson was seventh in 17:08.

Colt Nichols finished 29th in 18:44 and Gerardo Rodriguez came through in 19:44. Also running for the Bears were Zach Hope, Jeremy Hatfield and Ismael Gutierrez.

"We ran great," said SB head coach Charles Wright. "We had our best times of the year."

On the girls side, Karissa Wolf finished 13th in a time of 13:54 over the two-mile course.

Junior high boys placing were Clint Wolf, fourth in 12:34, and Ken Wade, eighth in 13:19.
