Cooper picks right time to win first game

Sept. 30, 2007 - HONEY GROVE - The Cooper Bulldogs put their winless non-district schedule behind them on Friday.

The Bulldogs opened District 15-2A play with a 27-26 win over Honey Grove, getting their first win of the season when they needed it most.

Cooper's Andre Larry had 26 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns, while Garrett McGraw had 10 carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Sean Witherspoon had 12 carries for 63 yards, and Gaylon Bacy added 22 yards on 10 carries.

McGraw ended the night 1-of-4 passing for 13 yards, while Adrian Migura went 1-for-1 for 17 yards and a touchdown pass to McGraw. Larry had one reception for 13 yards.

The Bulldogs (1-4 overall, 1-0 in district) host DeKalb next week in Cooper. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

In other district action, Prairiland defeated Rivercrest 30-22, Chisum won 21-15 over DeKalb, and Clarksville had a bye week.
