MG beats Harts Bluff in baseball

Sept. 11, 2007 - The Miller Grove Hornets opened the junior high fall baseball season with a sweep of Harts Bluff last week.

The Hornets won Game 1 by a score of 5-0 and then took Game 2, 10-8.

In Game 1, Quenton Stovall and Patrick Covington combined on a two-hit shutout in five innings for the win.

Miller Grove scored four runs in the first as Stovall singled in two runs and Dylan Simms had a two-run single. Ryan Dougan also hit safely.

In Game 2, Tyler Lennon started the game and gave up five runs in three innings. He gave up four runs in the third as reliever Reid Burns finished off the game allowing three runs in the fourth.

Lennon went 2-for-3 with three RBI and had an inside-the-park home run in the first inning. Covington went 2-for-3 with two singles, a triple and an RBI. Simms, Nathan George and Justin Dollison singled.
