Wilder wins Bland meet; Stinson 10th in Tyler

Sept. 11, 2007 - Sulphur Bluff and Como-Pickton runners had success last weekend at their respective cross country meets.
In Merit, Sulphur Bluff finished fourth overall at the Bland Invitational Meet as Everett Wilder won the individual championship and Trey Henderson finished fourth.
Wilder finished the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 20 seconds, while Henderson came in at 17:43. Colt Nichols also finished in the top 20 with a 19th-place showing in 19:21.
Ismael Gutierrez, Gerardo Rodriguez, Zach Hope and Jeremy Hatfield also ran.
For the girls, Sulphur Bluff's Carissa Wolf finished in seventh overall in a time of 14:17 on the two-mile course.
In the junior high boys division, Clint Wolf was ninth in 12:50 on the two-mile course.
In Tyler, Como-Pickton senior Bethanie Stinson finished in 10th place among 155 runners at the Lee Cross Country Invitational Meet on Saturday, running the two-mile course in a time of 13 minutes, 32 seconds.
In the junior varsity boys division, freshman Hunter Cain completed the 3.1-mile course in eighth place out of 105 runners in a time of 20 minutes, 48 seconds.
The Eagles will run in the North Hopkins meet on Saturday. The races will start at 8:30 a.m. on the NHHS campus.
