Oct. 28, 2007 - QUINLAN - Taylor Marshall threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Emory Rains Wildcats defeated the Quinlan Ford Panthers 36-32 on Friday.

The Wildcats improved to 3-5 overall, 1-2 in District 10-3A with the win, while Quinlan drops to 4-4, 0-3.

The Wildcats trailed 32-24 following Richard William's second touchdown run with 10:20 remaining in the fourth quarter. Rains responded with an eight-play drive that resulted in a 1-yard touchdown run by Marshall to narrow the margin to 32-30 with just under eight minutes remaining.

Rains forced a Quinlan punt, then drove 76 yards to score the go-ahead touchdown. Twice the Wildcats had the game on the line facing fourth-and-1 during the drive. Each time, Marshall took the football, then lowered his head and gained the necessary yardage needed to keep the drive alive.

Marshall put Rains ahead for good when he found Jake Ferguson for a 27-yard touchdown pass. The try for the two-point conversion failed leaving a 36-32 score with 1:05 remaining in the game.

Quinlan nearly pulled out the win in the final seconds. Michael Enriquez completed a 33-yard pass to Jeff Wallace then Dewayne Pruitt picked up 17 yards on a draw play that moved Quinlan down to the Rains 15-yard line. Quinlan picked up 6 yards on a pair of runs before the drive ended on a pair of incompletions.

Marshall finished the night leading the Wildcats with 110 yards rushing on 13 carries. He also completed 8-of-12 passing for 129 yards and the three touchdowns. Colby Hoover led all receivers with 88 yards on six receptions.

Friday night the Wildcats travel to Nevada to take on the Community Braves. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
