Stinson wins district meet, 2 other going to regional

Oct. 26, 2007 - LAKE TAWAKONI - Three Como-Pickton runners had a strong showing at the District 20-2A cross country meet at Thousand Trails Resort Monday by advancing to regionals.

Senior Bethanie Stinson will return to the regional meet in Humble for the fourth year in a row. This year, she will be joined by Ole Gutierrez and freshman Hunter Cain on the boys side at the Class 2A, Region III meet on Nov. 3 at North Harris County College.

Stinson was the individual champion in the girls race in a time of 13 minutes, 15 seconds on the two-mile course, while in the boys division, Gutierrez and Cain each finished in the Top 10.

Gutierrez finished the 3.1-mile race in fifth place overall in a time of 18:58, while Cain was sixth in a time of 19:04.

In the junior high girls division, the Lady Eagles finished third as a team led by Alondra Alonso, with a second-place finish in 15:58. Teammate Danielle Midgeley finished ninth and Elena Preciado was 12th.

Other Lady Eagles who ran were Alexus Harris, Marbelis Rasgado and Yuridia Morales.
