SSMS girls win consolation

Oct. 24, 2007 - The Sulphur Springs Middle School volleyball team completed its season with a consolation trophy at the District 11-4A tournament in Texarkana last weekend.
The Lady Cats lost to Paris in their opening match 25-15, 18-25, 15-17, defeated Mount Pleasant 25-10, 25-6 and defeated Texas High 21-25, 25-19, 15-6.
The Lady Cats finished the season with a 6-5 record.

Katie Cooper led the team with six serves and one kill, Gracie Cable had five serves and 33 passes, and Regan Humphries added four points, 15 spikes and two kills in the loss.
Katie Dougan had 22 passes and two kills, and Ayanna Taylor added 21 passes for the Lady Cats. Jessica Horton had 33 sets, 11 spikes and two kills, Alyssa Doughtie had 20 sets, 11 spikes and two kills, and Hannah McCampbell had 17 sets.

In their second match, Doughtie had 12 serves and six passes, Alex McGahee had 11 service points, Dougan had six points, and Cooper added four points.
Victoria Calhoun led the team with seven passes, Taylor and Doughtie had six passes each, Horton had 10 sets and McCampbell had four sets. Humphrey had nine spikes and one kill, while Sydni Young had seven spikes, and Lindsey McCormack had one kill.

In their final match of the season, Horton led the Lady Cats with 13 serves and 29 sets, Cooper had nine serves, seven spikes and two kills, while Doughtie added seven serves, four sets, seven spikes and four kills.
Calhoun and Cable had 13 passes each and Dougan added 12 passes. McCampbell had four sets, Humphries led the team in spikes with 12 and two kills.
