Bulldogs beat Clarksville to stay in thick of playoff race

Oct. 21, 2007 - COOPER - With two games remaining in their season, the Cooper Bulldogs are right in the thick of the playoff race following a 28-9 homecoming win over the Clarksville Tigers Friday night.
The Bulldogs are now 2-6 overall and 2-2 in District 15-2A, tied with Rivercrest for fourth place. The Bulldogs face Prairiland (3-5 overall, 3-1 in district) Friday night in Pattonville with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
Cooper had a 66-yard touchdown pass to Andre Larry from Huie for the early 7-0 lead. Beeler booted the PAT good.
The Bulldogs took a 21-0 lead at the half as Gaylon Bacy and Huie scored on run of 1 and 7 yards, respectively. Bacy also had a two-point conversion in the second quarter.
The Tigers came back in the third quarter with a safety and a touchdown run by Reeves to pull themselves to within, 21-9, heading into the final quarter of play.
Cooper's Garrett McGraw then scored the final touchdown of the game with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter for the 28-9 finale.
Offensively, Bacy led the Bulldogs with 20 carries for 67 yards, while Larry had 10 carries for 44 yards. Larry also had three catches for 105 yards.
Defensively, Ellis Hinsley had eight tackles, Garrett Wilson, PeeWee Jeffery, Garrett Scholta and McGraw had six tackles each and Jacob McPherson had five tackles for the Bulldogs.
