Bulldogs fail in bid to go 2-0 in district

Oct. 7, 2007 - COOPER - After picking up their first win of the year last week, the Cooper Bulldogs dropped to 1-1 in District 15-2A play with a 34-6 loss to DeKalb Friday night.

Cooper quarterback Garrett McGraw led the way for the Bulldogs with 11 carries for 58 yards, while Gaylon Bacy had 12 carries for 57 yards.

Sean Witherspoon scored the only touchdown for the Bulldogs on a 2-yard run but the PAT failed as DeKalb held a 7-6 lead. Witherspoon finished with five carries for 24 yards.

Defensively, Ellis Hinsley had one solo tackle and 11 assists, Colby McPherson and Miguel Monroy had eight assists each, while Jackson Scholta, McGraw and Adrian Migura had six assists each.

DeKalb had 239 yards of offense compared to 182 yards of offense for the Bulldogs. DeKalb had touchdown runs of eight, three, one, 20 and 21 yards during the game.

Cooper (1-5 overall) travels to Rivercrest next Friday with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
