From Staff Reports

Nov. 8, 2007 - DAINGERFIELD - The road through the Class A state volleyball playoffs ended for the Miller Grove Lady Hornets on Tuesday in the regional quarterfinals against the Beckville Lady Cats.

Beckville won by scores of 16-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-23.

"Well, we didn't win but the girls worked extremely hard to get this far," said MGHS coach Melissa Kethley. "It just wasn't our game since our serving was off and so were our passes. At the end of the third game our freshman setter sprained her ankle.

"After the game, I told the girls what a success they were this year. We met all of our goals with a district championship and going three rounds deep in the playoffs."

The Lady Hornets were led by Natalie Bailey, who had a team-high 18 kills, five blocks, two digs and 15 points. Becca George had five kills, five blocks and 11 points, Haley Potts recorded 12 assists, five digs and 16 points, Adrian Estrada had 11 points, 10 assists and one kill.

Angelic Rios finished with 15 points, eight digs and one assist, Kasey Burns had 15 points and one dig, Mareyna Pillard had four digs, and Jena Burns had one point and one dig.
