C-PJH ties Grand Saline

Nov. 2, 2007 - COMO - The Como-Pickton Junior High teams tied Alba-Golden 16-16 Thursday night at Ron Heflin Field.
The Eagles and Panthers combined both teams for the game as the Como-Pickton seventh grade defense allowed the opening touchdown of the game as AGHS held an 8-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Eagles eighth-grader Trevor Cagle took the handoff and ran to paydirt for a 42-yard touchdown. Tanner Brumley ran in the two-point conversion to tied the game at 8-8. The Panthers then came back on a 40-yard scamper to take a 16-8 lead in the locker room.
In the second half, the Eagles coaching staff went with the eighth grade squad as Cameron Bain caught the opening kickoff and went 60 yards for the 16-14 deficit. Brumley went in for his second conversion to tie the game after the third quarter.
Brodie Ogle went 5-for-10 passing for 65 yards, while Bain had four receptions for 48 yards and Paxton Vail had one catch for 17 yards. Cagle had four carries for 49 yards, while Brumley finished with six totes for 20 yards.
Defensive standouts were Danial Walker, Bain, Evan Tellez, Justin Lohr, Brumley, Ogle, Dakota Shelby and Marco Gonzales.
The Eagles will wrap up the season on the road against the Grand Saline Indians at 5 p.m.� Thursday.
