Miller Grove sweeps doubleheader with Campbell

Mar. 19, 2007 - CAMPBELL — The Miller Grove Hornets swept a doubleheader against Campbell by outscoring the Indians 39-10 on Saturday.

The Hornets (8-6) won the first game, 20-2, then came back in Game 2 with a 19-8 win.

In the first game, Reece Evans went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and five RBI and picked up the win on the mound pitching a complete game two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Chance Lee went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, Aaron Baylus, Steven Mayfield, Seth Roberts, Jordan Lennon and Dakota Hrabal each had two hits and Jeramie Burns had one hit for the Hornets. Baylus, Mayfield, Roberts and Roberts had three runs scored, while Lennon had three RBI.

In Game 2, Evans went 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, a single and a triple and scored three runs. He finished the day 8-for-10 at the plate.

Roberts pitched a complete game giving up seven hits with eight strikeouts and three walks for the Hornets.

Baylus went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and went 5-for-6 during the doubleheader.

Joey Hegseth was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and five RBI, while Hrabal, Lennon, Lee and Zach Crispin each recorded a hit.

Miller Grove will begin district play on Tuesday at Yantis. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
