June 25, 2007 - TYLER - Sulphur Springs got behind the eight-ball early in the Tyler Qualifying Tournament for 7-on-7 and couldn't recover.
The Wildcats fell behind early in their first pool game to Forney and finished pool play with a 1-2 record. Forney advanced out of Pool D and ended up qualifying for the state tournament as one of the tournament's finalists.

The field will feature 64 5A-4A teams while another state tournament that features small schools (3A-A) is scheduled for a week earlier.
Forney scored on three long passes in the first half against Sulphur Springs and went on to a 32-27 victory. The Wildcats then beat Elysian Fields 24-18 before falling in the final game to Longview Pine Tree 41-22.
South Garland and Forney each won their semifinal games, then settled for a co-championship.
Sulphur Springs will play its final 7-on-7 games this Thursday in the final week of the league it hosts. The games are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. at the SSHS practice fields, but could be moved to the middle school if field maintenance is underway.
