Cats playing in Paris qualifying tournament

June 15, 2007 - Sulphur Springs' varsity 7-on-7 team will have a chance to qualify for state meet when they play Saturday in Paris' tournament.

The Wildcats are in Pool A along with District 11-4A rivals Paris, North Lamar and Lindale. Sulphur Springs will play North Lamar at 9 a.m., Lindale at 10 a.m. and Paris at 1 p.m. All games are at Noyes Stadium.

The winner of the pool, along with the second-best team among all three pools, will advance to the semifinal game at 4 p.m. The championship game is set for 5 p.m.

Other teams in the 12-team field are Pool B: John Tyler, Killeen, Pine Tree and Arlington; Pool C: Sherman, Greenville, Springtown and Whitehouse.

The top two teams in the tournament qualify for the state tournament in College Station on July 13-14.
