Lady Cat golf finishes second at Lindale Tournament

From Staff Reports

Feb. 21, 2007 - LINDALE - The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats finished near the top of the leaderboard on Monday in their first golf tournament of the season.

The Lady Cats, coming off a regional trip last year, finished second at the Lindale Invitational Tournament at Hideaway Lake.

Led by a fifth-place individual finish by senior Whitney McDaniel, Sulphur Springs shot a 411 to finished behind Spring Hill, which carded a 380 to win the tournament.

McDaniel finished with a 91, followed by fellow returning lettermen sophomore Britney Cheatham with a 100 and senior Kyle Littlefield with a 105. Sophomore Kaitlyn Potts carded a 115 and freshman Miranda Conway had a 116.

"We played fairly well for 30 mile-per-hour winds on a tough course," said SSHS head coach Rahn Smith. "We also realized how important the short game is, and it gave us some things to focus on during this week's practice."

The SSHS varsity squad will compete again next Wednesday at the Sherrill Park Golf Course in Dallas, sponsored by Lake Highlands. The JV team will play Monday at Delta Country Club in Cooper.
