Lady Cats frozen out of season opener

From Staff Reports

Feb. 14, 2007 - The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will have to wait to open up their softball season.

Coach David Carrillo said Tuesday night's opener at Nevada Community was frozen out after the coach removed the tarp from the field and noticed the field was not playable.

"We actually were loaded up on the bus to go when I got the call," said Carrillo.

He also said the Richland Tournament for this weekend is up in the air and that Thursday's action is cancelled due to the cold weather.

"The Richland Tournament bracket is up in the air right now and I know we will not go Thursday as was planned because of the cold weather," the coach said. "They are condensing it to two days on Friday and Saturday. "

The Lady Cats will play their first home game on Feb. 20 against Wills Point. The JV will start at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 6:30 p.m.
