North Hopkins clinches district title

Feb. 2, 2007 - BIRTHRIGHT - The North Hopkins boys clinched the District 18-A, Div. I championship on Tuesday with a 68-43 victory over Cumby.

The Panthers (6-0 in district), got 19 points from Blake McClure, 17 from Steven Crocker, 14 from Dustin Clements and 11 from Rickey Willis.

"We pushed the ball really well and got some easy buckets in transition," said NH head coach Matt Rager. "Our 1-3-1 zone hurt them early. Now, we need to start polishing and fine-tuning for the playoffs."

The Panthers host Yantis tonight. Yantis (3-3) can clinch a playoff berth by winning its final two games or by winning one game and having either Boles or Cumby lose one of its final two games.
