Wright named All-American

Feb. 2, 2007 - Kendall Wright, a sophomore wide receiver at Northwest Missouri State University, was named to the NCAA Div. II All-American squad recently.
Wright, a record-setting wide receiver for SSHS during his season season in 2004, was selected to the Third Team All-American Team by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette, the recognized authority for small college football.
Wright has won numerous awards for this performance during the 2006 football season. He was selected to the Southwest All-Region First Team by Football Gazette, the regional Second Team by both D2Football.com and Daktronics, and the All-MIAA First Team.
Wright caught 83 passes for 1,151 yards and five touchdowns, all of which were team-highs. He also was the top punt returner on the team with 341 yards and one TD on 36 returns, and he returned 12 kickoffs for 219 yards.
Northwest Missouri (14-1) finished as the No. 2 team in Div. II after a 17-14 loss to No. 1 Grand Valley State in the championship game for the second consecutive season.
