Lady Owls roll to 2-0

Aug. 15, 2007 - YANTIS -\ Hughes Springs became victim No. 2 in as many outings for the Yantis Lady Owls as the hosts easily took care of another Class 2A victim, 25-11, 25-15, 25-18.

The only time the Lady Owls were behind was in the second game when they got down 0-7 before Keri Glenn scored on 10 consecutive serves for an 11-7 lead.

Isy Reyna had three aces and seven kills with Jamie Gilliland hitting for two aces, five kills and eight assists. Baylee Gilbreath had an ace and four kills along with several great digs. Gilbreath also had an excellent game at the net thwarting several Lady Mustang attempts. Amanda McKinney had several diving saves and six digs.  

Christina Tauzen had two aces, three kills and three assists. Mckenzie Apel added three assists and had three digs. Karianne Locke came in to score on two kills.

The Lady Owl freshmen swept their match 25-18, 25-14 for their season-opening win. The JV Lady Owls dropped to 1-1 with a 25-13, 20-25,10-15 loss after opening the season with a win over Edgewood.

The Lady Owls will travel to Wolfe City for three games Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
