JV Cats sweep T-High

April 25, 2007 - For the second time this district season the JV baseball Wildcats defeated the Texarkana Tigers 8-2 on Monday. The Wildcats continue their search for the District 11-4A title with a 7-1 record in district and an overall mark of 15-3.
Leading the Cats Monday was Josh Anderson, who pitched a sharp five innings. He gave up one run, struck out two batters and only allowed two walks.
�Josh threw the ball well tonight," said coach Donald Patrick. "He threw a lot of ground ball pitches and minimized his walks. This was a very solid outing against a very tough team.�
The Cats hit the ball well against the tall Texarkana lefty, Randall Fant. The Cats scored one run in the second with Colton Jones singling and scoring on a double by Daniel Rosales. Mason Rawson singled but was left stranded.
Starting the third, the Cats opened the flood gates with five runs. Jayden Wallace and Ben Barrows singled and both scored on a double by Jace Jackson. Rosales knocked in Jackson with a single up the middle. Grayson North and Rawson both singled and scored on a hit up the middle by Colton Cummings. At the end of the third inning the Cats led 6-0.
In the fourth, the Tigers broke up Anderson's shutout to draw to within 6-1.
In the sixth, Barrows came in to relieve Anderson, and Texas High scored another run to make the score 6 - 2 going into the final frame.
The Wildcats padded their lead in the seventh by two additional runs when Jordon Peoples drew a walk and Cedrick Finney singled. Barrows drove the two Cats across the plate by singling up the middle.
Rawson closed the game by striking out two of the three batters he faced.
The Cats will play for the district title on Friday when they face the North Lamar Panthers at Eagle Stadium at 7 pm. The Panthers gave the Cats their only loss in district by defeating them 4-2 in Paris.
