Miller Groves takes 18-A volleyball lead with win over North Hopkins

Sept. 28, 2006 - MILLER GROVE - The Miller Grove Lady Hornets remained undefeated in district play with a five-game win over North Hopkins Tuesday night.

Miller Grove won by scores of 25-15, 25-18, 27-29, 16-25, 15-10.

"This was a really tough game for us as well as important," said MGHS coach Melissa Kethley. "The girls came out ready with terrific enthusiasm and an optimistic attitude. The Lady Hornets played hard all five games and in the end came out with a good win."

Natalie Bailey had a double-double with 17 points, 14 kills, six digs and two blocks, Adrian Estrada had a double-double with 16 service points, 29 assists and one dig, Becca George finished with 14 service points, seven kills, four blocks and two digs, Jennifer Mayfield had 26 service points, six digs and one kill.

Amanda Sims finished with 18 points and six digs, Angelic Rios had eight points, nine kills and 12 digs, and Dianne Sparks had three kills.

The Lady Hornets are now 14-8 overall and 2-0 in District 15-A.

Kethley also praised the play of her junior high teams which also defeated North Hopkins.
