Sept. 23, 2006 - CUMBY - The Cumby Trojans dropped to 1-3 on the season with a 28-6 loss to the Simms Bowie Pirates during homecoming Friday night at Trojan Field.
Freshman Brixx Hawthorne scored the only touchdown of the game for the Trojans and finished with 21 carries for 102 yards and went 6-of-28 for 78 yards and two interceptions in the passing department. He also had a fumble recovery on defense.
Hawthorne had a touchdown run of 25 yards in the fourth quarter, but the extra point failed, leaving Cumby with a 28-6 deficit.
Simms Bowie scored four rushing touchdowns of 60, 45, 15 and 18 yards and finished with 252 yards of total offense against Cumby.
Kris Stanford led Cumby in receiving with two catches for 30 yards, while Miles Parker had one catch for 18 yards, Nathan Dunnihoo had one catch for 15 yards and Adam Fite had one catch for 11 yards.
Cumby travels to Maud next Friday with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
