SSHS faces Paris in district action

Sept. 22, 2006 - The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will try to pick up their first district volleyball win today when they get an early start against Paris.

The varsity action between the two Lady Cat teams will get underway at 4:30 p.m. today at Wildcat Gym. The early start is attributed to the homecoming activities at Gerald Prim Stadium this evening.

The freshmen and JV games will begin after the varsity match.

Sulphur Springs (8-15 overall) is coming off a five-game loss in the District 11-4A opener Tuesday against Texas High (12-10), while Paris (23-4) had an easy time with Mount Pleasant, disposing of the Lady Tigers in three games, 25-18, 25-14, 25-15.

In the other 11-4A opener, North Lamar swept Lindale, 25-23, 26-24, 25-14.

Sulphur Springs is in the midst of a three-game homestand to open district play. The homestand ends Tuesday against Mount Pleasant, then the Lady Cats must go on the road for the next five consecutive games.
