Lindale girls tie for first

Oct. 23, 2006 - Lindale pulled off a four-game win against the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats in the regular season finale on Friday, giving the Lady Eagles a share of first place in the District 11-4A volleyball standings.

Lindale won by scores of 25-17, 25-13, 18-25, 25-17, to improve to 8-2 in district, 20-11 overall. The Lady Eagles ended the regular season tied with North Lamar, which dropped a five-game decision to Paris on Friday. The two teams will flip a coin today to determine playoff seeding.

Paris (7-3, 29-7) is the district's third and final playoff team, while Sulphur Springs fell to 1-9, 9-23.

The Lady Cats bid farewell to four seniors in pre-game ceremonies. They all contributed in the match.

Kayla Morgan ended with a team-high five kills and eight blocks to go with nine digs, Kristen McDonald added 11 digs, two kills and one block, Darla Dickson contributed three digs and two blocks, and Jordan Anderson, playing on a hurt knee, recorded two digs.

Other team leaders were junior Amanda McGowin with 12 digs, while sophomore Baleigh Butler, sophomore Mackenzie Cross and junior Brittani Dillard contributed nine digs each, and junior Kelsey Evans had eight digs.

Cross also had one kill and three blocks, and junior Marci Womack added three kills and two blocks. Elise Rascoe added a dig and a block.
